What We Did

Situated in the heart of downtown New Orleans, the Natchez Residence is a brand new building rising four stories high and approximately 9,000 S.F. The home was designed to have a clean and fresh feel, with an exterior brick façade that lends itself to the surrounding buildings. The interior is completed with modern interior design and furnishings.

The Natchez Residence site constraints were approximately 30’ x 130’, which shaped the form and plan of the home. The party wall on northern long side and tall buildings on other sides presented challenges of limiting available sunlight into home. But as our team has seen before, the challenges of the project inspired many design elements throughout the home. A curtain wall on the south side facing Tchoupitoulas Street provides ample daylight to building. Also, an open stairwell with a skylight reaches through all four stories to allow light into lower floors.

The building program consists of four luxurious bedroom suites and three half-baths throughout the home. The ground floor has a private pub and entertainment room with French doors perfect for opening to the sidewalk for Mardi Gras parties. The pub has English style atmosphere, complete with wood panels, marble countertops and stone floors. The open second floor has a large open kitchen with marble countertops, antique wood floors and professional grade appliances. The dining room is highlighted by the two-story curtain-wall opening. A large outdoor patio space sits adjacent to the dining room overlooking Tchoupitoulas Street. The roof provides an additional outdoor patio space with a pool and a kitchenette.

The Natchez Residence is a unique urban oasis. It is surrounded by Historic District buildings and accentuates its context while adding to the neighborhood’s architecture. It serves the family as wonderful place to enjoy the city they love, New Orleans.
