WHAT WE DO

Originally constructed in the mid-19th century, 1016 Canal Street stood out on one of New Orleans’ most iconic streets due to its unique Italianate façade including two large bay windows. Tragically, the historic property was largely destroyed by a fire in 2016. Utilizing state and national historic tax credits, Rozas-Ward restored the remaining portions of the front and rear façades while incorporating a new building within the historic shell, including a penthouse addition.

This development is in line with the Downtown Development District’s mission to reinvigorate the Canal Street corridor by bringing the upper floors of these historic properties back into commerce, which has been long overdue. 1016 Canal Street now features nearly 5,000 SF of ground floor commercial space and 47 modern short-term rental micro-apartment units.
