WHAT WE DID

The Benson Cancer Center Expansion is a 6 story expansion of the existing cancer center. This 150,000 SF project is performed by Lead Architect Rozas-Ward and Associate Architect EYP. The building includes multiple clinic types and a large Event Space.

The first floor is the Tansey Breast Center and includes Mammography rooms, Ultra Sound rooms, and clinic exam rooms. This space has a spa-like feel highlighted by natural wood and stone.

The second floor houses the Medical Oncology Clinic. It is split between GI and Urology and has 30+ exam rooms, with 4 Treatment rooms supported by scope processing. There is a central Waiting Room and Intake rooms with views to the Mississippi River and Levee.

The third floor is for Patient Services. There is a Physical Therapy Gym, open to patients with a private treatment room. Two “treatment rooms” for acupuncture and other treatments. Private Mediation Room and a Multipurpose room for yoga, patient/family support painting, and other activities.

The Fourth Floor serves as the Administration Suite with open collaboration spaces and meeting rooms to support clinical research. It also has respite areas for staff and lactation rooms.

The Fifth Floor serves as the infusion area. There are 20+ exam rooms, 20+ BMT/Hemonc Open Infusion Bays with direct views of Mississippi and Levee, and 6 Private Infusion rooms.

Finally, the Sixth Floor has a large Event Space and outdoor terrace. This gathering space for 300+ people is to be used for special occasions, as well as everyday physician dining, and is fully supported by an attached commercial kitchen.

RWA and EYP worked together to deliver a state-of-the-art cancer diagnostic and treatment facility.
