What We Did

When it comes to restaurant settings, you have to bring it on all fronts. From the moment customers walk in, it’s about the whole experience. This client understood that, and came to us to collaborate and create a unique dining experience. The owners, Baton Rouge locals, had a Caribbean-inspired bar and restaurant in mind, and with our help, it was a dream come true.

We went to work planning and designing The Rum House, what would be a 4,000 square foot ground-up construction. The nature of this site allowed for the building footprint to fit snugly into the large existing oak trees, forming a natural exterior courtyard. The design is punctuated by a large sailing ship for the interior bar, rope swings for exterior bar stools, roll-up garage doors opening the interior to the exterior, raw use of materials, exposed structure, and a colorful palate. It all comes together to make an excellent atmosphere to enjoy some tacos and a drink.
